Mission Viejo project hero

Mission Viejo

What had been a patio umbrella and a low-cost cabana became the starting point for something far more considered: a true indoor/outdoor extension of the home, running the full length of the house. The client envisioned a shaded outdoor kitchen woven into that same living space, not treated as an afterthought. We designed a two-unit Renson pergola system to span the entire back elevation, uniting the dining area, the lounge, and the kitchen under one continuous roofline.

The louvers do the work of the seasons. Opened, they invite in full sun and a steady breeze. Closed, the same structure becomes shelter, letting dinner continue outdoors through a passing rain. Two Fixscreens along the front soften the late-day glare and add a quiet layer of privacy, so the space feels considered at every hour, not just the ones with perfect weather.
